Dixon Creek Cleanup/restoration
Join us this August 26th at Dixon Branch Greenbelt Park from 8AM-11AM.
Dixon Creek flows directly into White Rock Lake. As the creek floods following heavy rains, the water picks up trash debris from neighborhoods that eventually get pushed toward the lake. In order to stop this trash from ever making it to the lake we will gather to collect trash accumulated along the creek.
All tools for the cleanup will be provided including: Gloves, trash pickers, trash bags, limites rain boots and waders will be available for those who need them.
Rain boots, long sleeve shirts, and gloves are necessary as there will be some standing water in the creek as well as long brush along the trails leading to creek entrance.
Please bring reusable water bottles if available, we will have water stations available in the designated cooling area at the park.
We will be splitting into 2 teams to cover as much of the stretch of the creek as we can. one of the entry points will require using a rope to get down to the creek area, and another will have easier access down into the creek.
